Responses to emergencies and disasters require pre-planning and well-developed procedures to assess the damage rapidly and coordinate and restore community services. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates this field will grow by 8% over the next ten years, and trained emergency managers can earn an average of $74,400 a year.
